The Knack of Self-Motivation

Yesterday I was again priveleged to attend another of Ed Ludbrook’s webinars on learning to be a successul Network Marketing coach.

Well, during that webinar he explained a theory that really made sense to me, and in a way contradicts a lot of the instructions that are abundant in personal development training.

There is a lot of emphasis placed on us coaches to encourage, including new people we sponsor, to set their goals, dream big, and make these goals their primary motivating force.

Well, that’s always made a lot of sense to me, and it’s the way I’ve approached things with my vision boards, affirmations, etc.

But Ed pointed-out that for many folks, especially people starting a new home-based business, that initially setting the ‘big’ goals isn’t the smart way to become self-motivated. Many people, probably the majority who decide to work from home, just don’t believe they deserve, or are capable of having, that dream home, luxury car; or see themselves capable of earning ten thousand bucks a month!

So with lots of people new to Network Marketing, setting their goals in that format may well de-motivate them, and they quickly lose heart and give-up.

What makes a lot of sense to me now, is that most people, initially at least, want to get-away from many unpleasant and distressing things in their lives. They want to get away from crushing debts, leave their inadequate home in a crappy neighbourood, get their kids out of a scary school environment, etc.

So, when it’s a choice of ‘gain motivation’ or ‘pain motivation’, it’s the ‘pain’ one that the majority of people use to self-motivate themselves with. And, as professional Network Marketing coaches, we need to be aware of this.

Then, as people begin to  build a little success in their business, they start to feel more confident in their ability to actually achieve some of the lifestyle that would love to live, setting the ‘gain’ goals becomes the method they can use to become self-motivated.

In future I will be more concious of encouraging my team-members to consider which type of self-motivation will be most effective in helping them build a successful home based Network Marketing business and develop a significant passive income.

Thank you, friends, for reading my latest article.

One Of Those Extra-Special Life Experiences

You know how you go through life, experiencing those ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ that are common to most of us referred to as mankind?

Well, like most of us, I’ve had plenty of those ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ in my numerous years on this planet, but have generally managed to slip away from the ‘lows’ pretty quickly, by having a somewhat optomistic nature.

I’ve generally lived by the phylosophy that life in general is pretty good, and so are the majority of folks I’ve come across.

One of the ways I’ve endeavoured to stay on top, so to speak, is that for the last twenty five years I’ve made a habit of studying personal development and learning about the lives of successful people that I admire and look up to.

Now this has included people who inspire me to be a better person and achieve more in my life, as well as those who make me laugh.

One author who comes to mind as I’m writing this is Bill Cosby. His book, “Love and Marriage”, with Chapter titles such as ‘Your Beloved Foe’, ‘To Love, Honour and Drive Up the Wall’ and ‘Till Talk Do You Part’ is extremely relateable to me, having so far experienced over forty years of marriage with my long-suffering wife, Heather.

And one of my favourite TV shows, “One Foot in the Grave’ always brings me to fits of laughter and tears as the husband and I seem to have so much in common! We husbands sometimes are a joke!

So that’s a little about one area in which I like to spend time for my own humorous personal growth, as I sincerely believe that laughter is one of the most vital and life-enhancing experiences we can enjoy. You gotta have a giggle, don’t you?

Moving into a more serious area of personal development, I’ve been very fortunate, as it so often happens that when I find a new book [or DVD], it’s amazing how this particular one has come into my life at just the right time! Does this happen to you? No doubt, it does, at least occassionally.

Well, what I’m leading up to, is another one of these experiences has recently occurred in my life, and the only way I can describe it, is “momentous”.

My best mate Ray Taylor was the catalyst for this, as he initially introduced me to an author who emails an inspiring message every weekday to hundreds of thousands of his subscribers.

So, Ray got me on to that list, and soon after, I began receiving these wonderful messages. And then he gave the author’s book, “Infinite Possibilities” to Heather for Christmas. About the same time, I ordered the author’s DVD, “Thoughts Become Things”. [Remember Mike in "The Secret" movie?]

WOW! These two mediums have had a massive impact on my thinking, my self-image and my approach to everything in my life. Nothing will ever be the same!

Initially I watched the DVD, and as soon as I could after that, I grabbed the book, and am now reading it for the third time, generally for twenty or thirty minutes every night before turning out the light.

Of all the self-help material I’ve devoured in my life, these two mediums, especially the book, are the most relateable, and in my opinion, ones that every person, from ten to ninety, must study and make a part of their lives.

Mike has a great blog I recommend you join immediately, and make sure you order both his book and DVD. You truly will immediately find that your life, and the lives of your loved ones, will never be the same. You’ll  find that infinite possibilities are awaiting you.

So click here right now and join his Club for free, and order your own copies of “Infinite Possibilities” and “Thoughts Become Things”. They’re economically-priced, and when you experience the benefits in your life from them, I’m sure that like me, you’ll know that what they contain really is priceless!
