Well, during that webinar he explained a theory that really made sense to me, and in a way contradicts a lot of the instructions that are abundant in personal development training.

There is a lot of emphasis placed on us coaches to encourage, including new people we sponsor, to set their goals, dream big, and make these goals their primary motivating force.

Well, that’s always made a lot of sense to me, and it’s the way I’ve approached things with my vision boards, affirmations, etc.

But Ed pointed-out that for many folks, especially people starting a new home-based business, that initially setting the ‘big’ goals isn’t the smart way to become self-motivated. Many people, probably the majority who decide to work from home, just don’t believe they deserve, or are capable of having, that dream home, luxury car; or see themselves capable of earning ten thousand bucks a month!

So with lots of people new to Network Marketing, setting their goals in that format may well de-motivate them, and they quickly lose heart and give-up.

What makes a lot of sense to me now, is that most people, initially at least, want to get-away from many unpleasant and distressing things in their lives. They want to get away from crushing debts, leave their inadequate home in a crappy neighbourood, get their kids out of a scary school environment, etc.

So, when it’s a choice of ‘gain motivation’ or ‘pain motivation’, it’s the ‘pain’ one that the majority of people use to self-motivate themselves with. And, as professional Network Marketing coaches, we need to be aware of this.

Then, as people begin to  build a little success in their business, they start to feel more confident in their ability to actually achieve some of the lifestyle that would love to live, setting the ‘gain’ goals becomes the method they can use to become self-motivated.

In future I will be more concious of encouraging my team-members to consider which type of self-motivation will be most effective in helping them build a successful home based Network Marketing business and develop a significant passive income.

These reservations are understandable due to the ways that business email marketing has received negative connotations, having been used so blatantly by unscrupulous people for many years, until govermental regulations put a stop to most of these practices. Now that this type of so-called marketing has been labelled ‘spamming’, most of it has been eliminated, thank goodness.

What has effectively evolved now is an opportunity for marketers to create business emails that have the customers interests as the number one priority, by providing real value to the reader and by offering solutions to peoples problems. So you can definitely add value to the lives of your readers by writing business emails with these purposes in mind. And you need an efficient software program as your broadcast tool to get your message to your prospective customers and business associates. So how do you do this?

Firstly, you need to begin to create a list of people you’d like to market your product and services to. This list could initially comprise those with whom you currently communicate, possibly lists you purchase, although these generally are of questionable value, and the list you build as a result of your marketing and advertising activities. When you are putting these lists together you need an effective email marketing program that you can put on autopilot and be able to market your goods and services with time-efficiency.

There are a number of high-quality software programs which will enable you to set-up effective business emails for a very modest cost. One of the most popular programs is offered by iContact. It’s the one I use and I find it to not only be extremely easy to use, it also offers a very high standard of customer support.

You can create any number of different lists within the Aweber software program, have business emails automatically sent to your contacts, as well as mailing a broadcast to them whenever you feel you have something of additional value that isn’t already contained in your automatic messages. This extra effort by you is an excellent way of building rapport with your contacts, building a relationship with them, and gaining their trust.

It is very important to be aware that with most of these business email marketing software programs, and is certainly the case with iContact, that you receive permission from people to send emails to them. The iContact program includes the facility to initially give your contact the option to opt-out and not receive any correspondence from you. This way, you are able to grow a list containing highly-qualified prospects for your mutual success. I hope what I have written is helpful and that you can now effectively use emails to grow your home based business more efficiently, and make money doing so.
